Confirmation is a public rite of the Church preceded by a period of instruction during which baptized Christians learn about the confession, life, and mission of the Christian Church.
Note:Â Prior to admission to the Lord's Supper, it is necessary to be instructed in the Christian faith (1 Corinthians 11:28). The Rite of Confirmation provides an opportunity for the individual Christian, relying on God's promise given in Holy Baptism, to make a personal public confession of the faith and a lifelong pledge of fidelity to Christ.
At St. James, we confirm adults as well as our 8th grade students. All classes are taught by our pastoral staff.
Junior confirmation classes begin in 7th grade for both students who attend St. James Lutheran School as well as those who attend school elsewhere. St. James Lutheran School students receive instruction during their religion classes. All other students attend class weekly during the school year.
Adult confirmation classes are offered on Sunday mornings as a part of the New Lutheran / Adult Confirmation Class. This class is offered twice each year. Please contact the church office at 423-1616 with any questions or for more information about class times.
