With nearly two centuries of faithfulness to God’s Holy Word and the Sacraments of our Lord Jesus, you’ll find St. James a vibrant landmark in Lafayette (175 years!), as well as a community of believers purposed to be a large family that enjoys and celebrates the grace of God.

The parish of St. James teaches and confesses the ancient faith of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church, within the Evangelical Catholic tradition of Lutheranism. We are a member Church of THE Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) and the International Lutheran Council (ILC). The Bible is revered as the inspired and infallible Word of God, and the Liturgy is prized as that by which Jesus’ gospel and sacraments are bestowed upon His people for the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.

St. James Lutheran provides Classical Education in our regional top-performing Early Childhood, Hybrid, and K-8 school. School chapel takes place Tues-Thurs (8:15-8:45) with an All School Mass each month. There are Bible studies, Youth Group, The Order of Saint Vincent (for acolytes and crucifers), Latin Club, sewing & quilting clubs, and Crusader sports teams. With St. James following the liturgical calendar, there’s always something happening on campus and always a place for you.
