The purpose of the St. James Foundation is to promote and support the overall religious and educational efforts of the congregation and school of St. James Lutheran Church of Lafayette, IN.

Types of Funds
The St. James Foundation provides monies each year to support the activities of St. James Lutheran Church and School through the funds generated by endowments set up for specific purposes.
Unrestricted Fund
General use by the Foundation for one or more of the stated missions and purposes of the Foundation
School Operating Fund
Offset costs associated with operating and maintaining St. James Lutheran School
School Scholarship Fund
Provide scholarships and financial assistance to students attending St. James Lutheran School
Church Fund
Offset costs associated with operating and maintaining St. James Lutheran Church
Temporary/Pass Through Fund
Hold fund, non-endowed, for a short-term and specific purpose (i.e. special fundraiser)

Annual distributions are limited to 3.5% maximum per year unless special approval is given by 2/3 of the Board to expend additional monies.

There are many opportunities to give to the Foundation to support the activities of St. James Lutheran Church and School.

What To Donate:
The St. James Foundation accepts the following:
- Cash
- Securities
- Bequest
- Personal property and real estate
- Beneficiary of life insurance or retirement account assets
- Residual balance of lifetime income gifts – gift annuities and trusts
How to Establish A Fund
Donors can establish a named endowment fund with a minimum gift of $25,000. That amount can be contributed during their lifetime with gifts of cash or upon their passing with a gift through their estate.
Can name the fund and choose the purpose.
Funds are invested in the St. James Foundation through the LCMS Foundation.
Named Endowment Funds:
One-time minimum gift of $25,000
Through contributions over time by one or many members until $25K min. reached
Through an estate gift such as a bequest in a will/trust and/or a beneficiary designation of a retirement account and/or life insurance
Note: Cash gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible
